Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with developmental disabilities in their daily activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication administration, following their individualized care plans
  • Support individuals in developing and maintaining life skills, such as household chores, money management, and socialization
  • Provide transportation and accompany individuals to appointments, community outings, and recreational activities
  • Encourage and promote independence and self-advocacy skills among individuals
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that respects the rights and dignity of individuals
  • Document individual progress, behaviors, and incidents accurately and in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure individual needs are met
  • Implement behavior support plans and strategies, as directed by supervisors or behavior specialists
  • Offer emotional support and actively engage with individuals to build positive relationships
  • Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations in providing care and support

Education, Certifications, and/or Experience

  • At least High School Diploma required.
  • Experience working with severe and persistent mentally ill population highly preferred.
